Postdoc position

One of the main messages emerging from COP26 was the commitment to stop carbon losses in forests, especially in the tropics. Forest loss is defined as the combination of deforestation and degradation.  The postdoc assuming this position will leverage Planet imagery and AI to monitor changes in carbon stocks in tropical forests due to deforestation and degradation. The final goal, framed in the context of a large research collaborative project, is to develop a monitoring system to identify illegal activities that endanger tropical sinks in real-time.  This is a collaboration between the Terrer Lab, the Climate & Sustainability Consortium, the Environmental Solutions Initiative, and the University of Maryland.
